I will put this here for everyone's reference. I will add more as I see fit. Special thanks to DemitriVladMaximov for this first question

(1) How do you decide which saint you will do next? Answer: Randomly and in no particular order ๐Ÿ˜… Right now, I have separate upcoming lists for:

A. Biblical saints: from the Old and New Testament, and from other apocryphal sources;

B. Church Fathers (Patristics): Apostolic Fathers, Greek Fathers, Latin Fathers, Cappadocian Fathers, Syriac Fathers, Desert Fathers;

C. Asian saints: those from South and East Asia, i.e. China, Hong Kong, India, Indonesia, Japan, Laos, Macau, Malaysia, Myanmar, North Korea, Philippines, Singapore, South Korea, Sri Lanka, Thailand, and Vietnam. I know it is technically not Asia, but I have also lumped Oceanian saints in this category, i.e. Australia, Guam, Papua New Guinea, Wallis and Futuna.

D. Hispanic saints: those with Hispanic descent, especially from Spain, Mexico, the Philippines, and the rest of Hispanic America [California, Central America (Cuba, El Salvador, Guatemala, Haiti, Nicaragua, Puerto Rico), and South America [Argentina, Chile, Colombia, Ecuador, Paraguay, Peru, Uruguay, and Venezuela)];

E. Saints from various Religious Orders: i.e. monastic, mendicant, canons regular, and clerics regular orders. I have a special inclination to prioritize the following monastic and mendicant orders since they are quite well known in the Philippines where I am from - Augustinians, Benedictines, Carmelites, Dominicans, and Ignatians.

F. Founders and Foundresses, and saints from various old and new religious congregations, secular institutes, and societies of apostolic life. For distinction, refer here. Also, it is my excuse at looking into the colorful history and development of religious habits! Who says, you can't be traditional and fashionable at the same time?

G. Obscure saints from extinct / suppressed religious groups: a recent addition in my growing interest as it provides me a rare historical and socio-political picture of developments and movements within the Church at a given geo-political realm and point in time.

H. Kings, Queens, and royalties: and other well-known nobles, pious prince and princesses... because why not? I LOVE referencing historical photos and paintings from the medieval period ๐Ÿ˜… LOL.

I. Martyrs: Includes those who were killed by any form of torture or capital punishment in witness / testimony of the Christian faith. They are lumped together in a single folder in my gallery, but there are also sub-categories, i.e. early Christian martyrs, and martyrs of the two world wars. Also, as you may have noticed, a lot of Asian and African saints I have drawn also falls under here; and lastly,

J. Saints from other liturgical traditions within the Catholic Church: i.e. Ukrainian, Melkite-Greek, Syro-Malabar, Maronite, Coptic, etc.

.......

I know it is a lot, but the Church truly is an ocean of inspiration when it comes to this. When deciding which saint to do next, I try to jump from one list to another for diversity, or sometimes refer to the General Roman Calendar (and other local calendars) so that I can plan ahead and post the saint on their particular feast / memorial days.

I just finished watching the 2020 film The Green Knight, starring Dev Patel as Sir Gawain. The film was apparently based on a late 14th-century Middle English chivalric romance, and one of the best-known Arthurian story. I have no background whatsoever on medieval English literature but I certainly loved it! I was surprised to see a little-known saint (at least in my side of the globe) making a cameo -- St Winifred -- asking Sir Gawain to find her missing head ๐Ÿ˜… She stood out for me as I recognized her as the actress who played Karli Morgenthau in MCU's short series, The Falcon and the Winter Soldier ๐Ÿ˜

Cancer Patients

August 19 is the memorial day of St Ezekiel Moreno, an Augustinian Recollect missionary who served here in the Philippines. I hold a spiritual connection with him, not only because he is the patron saint of cancer patients (I survived leukemia as a baby), but also because of my good priest-mentor who introduced this good saint to me. All the goodness, and necessary virtues, and the love for the Church and liturgy I learned as a young man, was all thanks to him. Happy fiesta to all Ezekielians!
